The people of Midland Metal Mfg Company have been dedicated to making their customers more profitable since 1919. In the beginning, Midland Metal manufactured lead, galvanized, copper and aluminum roof flanges, tees, nipples and elbows. They even had a contract to manufacture spoons for a local culinary company. The foundry was open until the 1960’s when government regulations made it unprofitable to operate.
After a restructuring in the 1970’s under Ross Manufacturing, Midland Metal emerged as a brass fitting national distributor. In 1980 John Ross sold Midland Metal to Bill Hodes. The company experienced a period of rapid growth under the management of Joe Carolyn and later the ownership of Nick Hodes. During this time period Midland expanded its product line to include cast fittings and nipples, valves, hose clamps, hydraulic, pneumatic, and hose accessories in a wide array of sizes and materials.
About 13 years after buying the company, Nick Hodes split Midland into two separate divisions, selling Midland Industrial to his brother, Vince Hodes. Vince placed a heavy emphasis on establishing Midland as a true marketing partner of its distributors, supplying them with unique marketing programs to help them sell Midland’s products. As a family-owned business with a family environment, Midland Industrial is dedicated to offering the products, tools and pricing to help all its customers compete with the largest Goliaths in their respective industries. Through generations, Midland has strived to be “too convenient not to buy from.”
